There's a Hole in The Bucket...
There's a hole in a wall in old Pompeii, due to torrential rains in recent days.
I think there is a really serious problem with Heritage Conservation. Part of the reason the sites have their character is because things fall down. So now we have to preserve their character by preventing things from falling down. Go figure. Of course, it relates to Davidson's aphorism "Nothing is important in archaeology". The heritage sites we have are important because they survived. What did not survive is part of the reason why those that survived are important.
