The other day I put up the "Closed for Repairs" sign. Lots on my mind. For the moment that doesn't include the further exploits of the Subversive Archaeologist. I was hoping for a few months at Western Living magazine as an editorial intern. Tried twice: once in June, again in August. Twice disappointed. So, now, in addition to a full-time job looking for work in some kind of editing role, I'm doing work-shoppy things through Simon Fraser University, trying to acquire some paper credentials to support my claim of being a dam fine editor already.
I'm very thankful for my Facebook, Google+ and Google FriendConnect, and Twitter friend/followers. Thanks to you, scuttling this ship is not an option. For that reason, I thought I'd work out all thoughts of that nature by listening to one of my favourite expressions of terminal despair—Shawn Colvin's "Sunny Came Home," winner of 1998's Grammy for Best Song and Best Record.
